Community Service

Went to old folks' home somewhere in Ampang as community service for Interact Club.

Not quite as bad as I thought it would be. Actually, it was probably better because us Non-Chinese speakers (Me, Nick, Steven, Billy etc.) were in the kitchen making tong yun (Okaylah, I'm not sure how to spell that).

Making those little flour balls really reminded us of playing Play-Doh as kids. This made us all start talking about the stuff we used to do and watch as kids.

Sonia was bitching about the Indon maid that was working there half the time in the kitchen.

All in all, quite fun to hang out with the friends I don't normally hang out with.

Cool Singer Just Discovered!!!!

A few months ago, I was going around Youtube searching for some nice acoustic BUMP OF CHICKEN songs and I ended finding this guy.


Apparently, his name is Nelson (Nel for short). He's a dude from Burbank, CA in the US.

He went for an exchange student programme when he was in Berkley College to Japan. While he was there, he formed a band with some friends and got picked up by a record label.

He recently graduated and returned to Japan to continue his music career.

He is one hell of a dude. His Japanese is SO fluent. He writes songs in both English and Japanese and they are pretty good.

His Youtube name is 'nbcsaku'. Check his originals and covers out.

Holidays!!!

How to describe my holiday so far?

Meh is pretty good. The weekend was alright. Went to Kanna Curry House on Sunday. Mmmm.....all the rice and curry you can eat for RM2.

Had a pretty decent jamming session on Monday. 'Her Own Enemy' is almost perfect and 'The Blue Note' is going well.

Yesterdays outing was pretty OK. Carl's Jr rocks!!!!!! If only it wasn't so expensive. Bowling was pretty fun. Really potong steam lah at the end of the day.

Nothing much today. Except I cooked my ULTIMATE self-made lunch!!!!!!! Nasi Goreng Maggi!!!!!!!!

Well, school was alright today, I guess.

Did assessment for Maths and Add Maths. Boleh tahan considering I didn't study at all.

English was even more boring than usual.

Malay guys are getting a little riled up at school. i'm sorta pissed as well but I wanna keep my cool.

And my drum training got cut short today thanks to muscle spasms in my right arm. Guess I've been pushing myself a little hard recently. Wearing myself out at the gym then getting to drum training straight away after that.

I should take it easy tonight but I gotta study for Physics assessment so.......boo hoo for me.

My first CD review!!!!!!! +44: When Your Heart Stops Beating

+44 was formed after Blink 182 broke up by drummer Travis Barker, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus and new guitarists Craig Faribaugh and Shane Gallagher.

Track list:
1. Lycanthrope: A good song to start of with. Has good energy. Dark sounding verse but chorus changes to a more Bink-ish sound. 4/5
2. Baby Come On: One of my favorites on the album. Nice lyrics "Yesterday is just tomorrow with the lights on". Great chorus, good verse and nice breakdown. 5/5
3.When Your Heart Stops Beating: The title track. Pretty good song overall. What I really like about this song is the drum beat for the chorus. 4/5
4. Little Death: A little bit gloomy for my liking but still a pretty nice song. Nice chorus. 3.5/5
5. 155: I found the synth at the beginning a little annoying but the chorus just blows me away. 4.5/5
6.Lillian: Pretty dark and gloomy. An alright song but I'm not really a big fan of it. 2.5/5
7. Cliff Diving: This is the most Blink-ish song on the album which is a great thing but chorus could've been better. 4/5
8.Interlude: Nice way to slow down the tempo a bit. 3/5
9.Weatherman: WAY too gloomy. Makes me sleepy. 2/5
10.No, It Isn't: Sad song, sad lyrics. But I like it. First +44 song I heard. 3.5/5
11.Make You Smile: Beautiful song. I would sing this a lot if I didn't suck so badly. 5/5
12. Chapter XIII: Not favorite song but alright. 2.5/5

Mark has really grown up since the good ol' days. it shows in his lyrics and songwriting. This is good and bad at the same time but well, everyone grows up sometime. Travis' drumming is still keng but I feel like he's lost some of the tenacity that makes him a guy I look up to.

Overall score: 4/5

*Sigh* Another rejection....

Rejected again.........ah well. At least we're still friends. Could be worse.
